Jonathan Leger just wrote a post on the advantages of internet marketing in a bad economy on his blog.

He mentions that one reason that the Internet is so different than mainstream media such as television, radio, newspapers, etc. is the ability to be able to see your ROI almost immediately. In the mainstream media, results are so much more difficult to track as opposed to online marketing tactics like Pay Per Click (PPC) for one.

The second reason he mentions is that people who lose their job may look online for work options in the new economy.

He also points out that since the Internet is  worldwide, your risk is leveled across the playing field. One country’s economy doesn’t necessarily bring down everyone economy.

** I don’t agree with that as evidenced by what’s been going on lately in the markets. The whole world is affected by the US economy for the most part. Of course there are pockets where it will not be felt as much.

Personally, in the last two weeks,  friends have asked me to help them setup their websites. Both of them have thriving businesses, both for over 15+ years. Both in the home remodeling business. One is a contractor, the other installs and finishes wood flooring. Both now realize that business is drying up. Relying on word of mouth and the yellow pages just isn’t enough.

The point is that there exists a huge advantage to being on the internet, earning on a living or helping your offline business with other sources of revenue.

I am reminded of Jay Abraham comparing a business to a diving board. A diving board isn’t a mechanism for going up, but for going down.  Most businesses are setup like diving boards, with just a single “pillar” on one side holding it up, or one source of revenue. By adding different streams, or pillars, you ensure that you’re business will not just survive but thrive.

If only because it moved me off my butt and taught me to focus on single projects instead of scatter shooting. This ebook, if you bought the full version comes with a nice forum. You can lurk here and read some of the threads, although the good stuff is members only.

I would not recommend purchasing this book for the forums because most people have migrated to the Earn1KaDay forum which is also Dennis Becker’s. Dennis has a video series which takes you step by step on how to make a money site. I show you one of my money sites in the “Dominating Craigslist” ebook and video. This was created with the help of many who contribute regularly there, as well as Dennis’s video series.

Article Marketing is an excellent form of free marketing that produces great results. Travis Sago of http://bummarketing.com has some excellent tutorials on that subject. I just picked up a great report by the Rhodes brothers, if you don’t know who they are, they make a quite living on the internet by producing one great report after another.
